I know many of you might be remebering this poem from yester years, it has been one of my inspirations in my college days. I am not going to put down the poem again, I will just be penning down what I have learnt through life, through my journey to the Entre-sphere, through my journey as the Sales Head of a Young IT Organization, through being Myself and how does it perfectly align with the basic meaning of ‘When Things Go Wrong As They Sometimes Will..Rest If You Must, But Dont You QUIT!’
Everyone in the world comes as an ordinary nobody and it is not in which family you were born in but what choices did you take that makes you distinguished from others. I know everyone knows this atleast everyone who is good enough to come online and read this does know this. I will just let you see all this through an Entrepreneur’s eyes.
ROUND I – I started my journey in the Corporate World after my graduation and decided to start my own venture, I had no idea what I was going to do, what I knew was that I was going to do something different. I tried consulting many people with varied backgrounds and everyone had their own beliefs, many people thought its not even good idea to start something right away – experience is a better word, a few were confused and a very few supported. From all this I came to understand that there is no particular formula, its your own belief and its your own tenacity to stick to your belief. Luckily and surprisingly wedid good, we got projects, we got troubles, but we delivered. Things seemed simple, soon we had a small team and we were joined by experienced people, there were more people in management and the visions began to differ. I was having a difficult time keeping my Focus on the way I wanted to bring up my organization, management thought they had a different view and things went wrong. I took rest but did not QUIT.
ROUND II (a smaller stint) – Began to work with a pre-existing organization with ownership stakes and responsibility of organizing and structuring work and team. Soon difference in opinion came in the randomness that prevailed earlier and was loved and the Focussed approach and Boom, there was an end to another Innings. Went into a retrospection mode and found that I need to stick to the Focus, my Plans, the Vision of enjoying work than earning bucks! I took rest but did not QUIT!
ROUND III – Started again, not tired but energized, more mature more planned. I realized that this time will not lose the Focus which was there behind chosing entrepreneurship as a career and it was more important to define it so that it runs through all the Team Members. We kept sure that it gets conveyed to every new member of the Auriga Family. Things started good again, the processes evolved and are still evolving, the Team grew, the Projects grew in Size, Volume and Revenues. The journey is still continued and lessons are learnt daily, problems are solved regularly, the only thing that remains constant is that Things Go Wrong as They Sometimes.
Will..I rest if I must, but do not QUIT!! Just for Reference, here goes the Poem:
When things go wrong as they sometimes will, When the road you are trudging seems all uphill; When the funds are low, and the debts are high, And you want to smile, but you have to sigh; When care is pressing you down a bit –
Rest if you must, but don’t quit.
Life is queer with its twists and turns, As every one of us sometimes learns; And many a fellow turns about When he might have won, had he struck it out; Don’t give up though the pace seems slow; You may well succeed with another blow.
Often the goal is nearer than It seems to a faint and faltering man; Often the struggler has given up When he might have captured the Victor’s cup! And he learned too late, when the night came down, How close he was to the golden crown.Success is failure turned inside out, The silver tint of the clouds of doubt. And you never can tell how close you are If may be near, when it seems afar.
So stick to the fight when you are hardest hit, It is when things seem worst you must not quit. ~Unknown
